Message from Savio Figueiredo regarding Donations made in 2008 (13/6/09)
Dear All
As I had informed earlier the Aldona Association London had donated Rs.82,000 towards new & special beds for the Home for the Aged Aldona. Accordingly we had bought one Semi Fowler bed ( for bed ridden inmates) and 3 hospital beds.
We tried out these 3 beds for some time and having found them to be suitable purchased 15 more to replace the old rickety, iron beds. The new beds are sleek, sturdy, powder coated and light . So now we have replaced 18 beds out of the 24 old beds. The total cost was Rs.90000/- . Since we overshot the budget we used part of the amount donated by Dr Eric Pinto towards mattresses with his consent.
Incidentally we bought 24 mattresses with the Rs.75,000 donated by Dr Pinto.
I would like to clarify that the beds and mattresses are utilised only in the wards /Dormitories and not in the rooms as the inmates living in the rooms are well off and live in relative luxury.
